Why Cogwright

What sets this workshop apart

Written intake record

Every piece enters the workshop with a dated condition survey. You know exactly what was found, what was done and what parts were used.

Photographic documentation

Chronograph and restoration work includes photographs at each major stage — a complete visual record returned with the piece.

Realistic turnaround windows

Scope is agreed at intake. Timelines are set to reflect actual bench capacity, not an optimistic number that slips week after week.

Specialist chronograph skills

Column-wheel and cam-actuated movements require specific knowledge of coupling geometry and hammer timing. This workshop handles both.

No work begins without agreement

Restoration scope is broken into stages. Each stage is discussed and agreed before it proceeds. No surprises at collection.

Walk-in friendly, Johor Bahru

A physical workshop at Jalan Tun Abdul Razak means you can bring your piece in person, discuss it over the bench and collect it yourself.

Bench Enquiries

Workshop FAQ

Common questions about the process

How do I bring my watch in for assessment?
Walk into the workshop at 88 Jalan Tun Abdul Razak during opening hours, or call ahead on +60 7-291 4638 to arrange a convenient time. You are welcome to describe the issue by email first if you would prefer a written summary before visiting.
Does the workshop handle brands other than Swiss watches?
The workshop assesses each movement on its own merits. Japanese, German, British and Swiss calibres have all passed through the bench. If a piece is outside practical scope — say, a calibre with no available spare parts — this will be stated clearly at intake rather than after weeks of waiting.
How is the service price determined?
Listed prices cover the standard scope for each service type. Parts — beyond consumables already included — are itemised separately and agreed before ordering. Restoration projects start with a condition survey; scope and cost are confirmed at each stage.
Can I collect my watch early if the work finishes ahead of schedule?
Yes. When a piece is completed before the estimated window, the owner is contacted the same day. Collection can happen at any time during opening hours once the workshop has confirmed readiness in writing.
Is the workshop able to source replacement parts?
Parts are sourced through established supply channels for common calibres. Rarer components may involve longer lead times from specialist suppliers. If a part cannot be sourced at a reasonable cost, alternatives are discussed with the owner before proceeding.
What does the chronograph timing report cover?
The report records rate, amplitude and beat error across six positions — crown up, crown down, crown left, crown right, dial up and dial down — using a timegrapher. Results are noted on the service record and returned with the movement.
